Mother and Child Sleeping — Eugène Carrière (1849–1906)
tonight
I’ll seek no sleep
because
to lie with you
is dream enough
as your breaths ebb and flow
with all the air I’ll ever need
tonight
in darkness I’ll stand guard
because
to watch over you
is dream enough
as you shelter the birth of our love
holding all the light I’ll ever need
tonight I will not cross into the blind man’s land because to look at you both is a vision of all the dreams I’ll ever need
Extraordinary poetry! Congrats, you’re the best 👏🏼.
